MI:GREAT ENVIRONMENTAL SYSTEMS MANUAL
2023 / Typography, Signage, Print Design, Bookbinding, Identity, Environmental Design
MI:GREAT is a state-wide local park cleanup event that takes place in the Spring, right before the birds migrate back for the Summer. Families, friends, and neighbors will all come together to clean up trash, fix up the facilities, and overall improve the appearance of the park so all-fowl friends and locals - can enjoy it for the upcoming summer. Out system includes semi-permanent and permanent signage that reflects the educational purpose of this event. The color palette is kept bright, yet non-disruptive. The origami-like bird icon is the main graphic symbol, along with the triangle, which is representative of a “skein” or the triangle formation birds migrate in.
This manual was created in collaboration with fellow MSU alumna and graphic designer, Melissa Utykanski. This body of work received an international grand prize through the UDA Signs, Systems, and Letterforms competition and remains a permanent piece in the UDA archive. This piece is also a recipient of a Silver Student ADDY Award with AAF Lansing, MI division.
